Screen Doors

Screen door installation and repair for pool cages, patios, porches and lanais.

Overview

A working screen door keeps the enclosure easy to use without leaving an opening for insects and debris.

Screen door installation and repair

The screen door gets more daily use than any other part of a pool cage, screen room or lanai. Every trip to the pool, the grill, the mailbox or the yard opens and closes it, so hinges, closers and latches wear out long before the rest of the screen does. On a well-used enclosure, the door is often the first thing to need attention, sometimes years before the mesh itself shows any wear.

Signs your screen door needs attention include a door that drags along the frame or the deck, a latch that no longer catches so the door swings open on its own, a closer arm that slams the door shut too hard or does not pull it shut at all, hinges that are loose, rusted or bent, and visible gaps between the door and frame that let insects in even when it is closed. A door that will not latch leaves the whole enclosure open to insects and debris no matter how good the rest of the screen is.

We inspect the door itself, the frame it hangs in, and all the hardware attached to it, including hinges, the closer, the latch and the handle, before recommending a fix. Sometimes the fix is a simple adjustment to realign the door in its frame. Other times hardware has worn out and needs replacing, and in cases where the door panel or frame itself is bent, warped or badly corroded, a full new door is the more practical option. We explain which category your situation falls into and why, in plain terms, before any work starts.

Door frames, mesh panels and hardware come in standard sizes and a range of finish options, and we match new doors and hardware to the existing enclosure as closely as practical so the finished door fits in with the rest of the structure. Where an exact match for an older enclosure is not available, we show you the closest option before ordering anything.

We install and repair screen doors on pool cages, screened patios, porches and lanais alike, since the hardware and the common failure points are similar across all of them. Where it would improve how you use the space, we can also add a door in a new location altogether, for example a second access point closer to the yard, a side gate for taking out trash, or a wider opening near a grill area.

Florida's humidity and heat take a toll on door hardware specifically, since hinges and closers cycle through daily expansion and contraction and are exposed to moisture that accelerates corrosion on lower-quality fasteners. Storm season adds sudden wind loads that can tear a weakened hinge or latch loose in a single gust, which is why a door that has been dragging or sticking for a while is worth fixing before the next big storm rather than after.

Screen door work is easy to combine with other repairs on the same visit. If you already have a torn panel elsewhere on the enclosure, a rescreen planned for later this year, or frame work you have been putting off, mention the door issue on your request so we can look at everything together and give you one written estimate covering the full scope.

On estimate day, a technician tests how the door currently operates, checks hinge and frame alignment, and talks through repair versus replacement with you before writing up a price. Estimates are free after the on-site visit, and we serve homeowners across Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake and Volusia counties for both door repairs and new door installations.

The problem we see most

A door that does not close, latch or screen properly can undermine the rest of the enclosure.
