Overview

Aluminum framing supports the screen system and defines the shape of the enclosure.

Aluminum frame repair for pool cages and screen rooms

The aluminum frame carries everything else in a pool cage or screen room: the screen panels, the doors, and in many cases the roof load over the pool deck. Over time, frame sections can be bent by impact from a falling branch or a storm, fasteners can corrode where dissimilar metals meet or where moisture collects, and connections between beams and posts can work loose from years of expansion and contraction in Florida heat. When the frame moves even slightly, the screen attached to it loses tension, panels start to sag, and doors stop closing cleanly against their frames.

Signs your frame needs attention rather than just the screen include a door that binds or will not latch even after hardware adjustments, visible gaps opening up between panels and the frame, a section of the cage that looks slightly out of square compared to the rest, rust or white corrosion forming at fastener points, and screen that keeps re-tearing in the same spot no matter how many times it is patched. That last sign in particular usually points to a frame problem, since healthy frame members should not put repeated stress on the same panel.

We start a frame repair by inspecting the affected sections and the connections around them closely, since a bent beam can sometimes be putting stress on hardware several feet away. Some problems only need fasteners replaced or a member re-secured and tightened back into alignment. Others need a damaged section cut out and replaced with new aluminum matched to the existing profile. We explain what we find in plain terms, show you the specific area of concern, and put the proposed work into a written estimate before anything is repaired.

Frame material comes in a few common profiles and gauges used across residential enclosures, and matching the existing structure as closely as possible keeps the repair visually consistent and structurally sound. Where an exact profile match is not available, we explain the closest option and how it will be fitted to the existing frame before starting work.

Because frame work and screen work are closely linked, we also check the panels attached to the section being repaired. Where screen has to come out to access the frame, it is replaced as part of the same job rather than reinstalled loosely, so the finished section looks and performs as well as the rest of the enclosure. This also avoids a second visit and a second service call for screen that would otherwise need attention shortly after the frame repair.

Florida's climate stresses aluminum frames in specific ways that are worth understanding. Salt air in parts of Central Florida, chlorine overspray near pools, humidity, and the constant cycle of heat expansion and nighttime cooling all contribute to loosened fasteners and corrosion over the years. Summer storms add sudden impact loads on top of that gradual wear, which is often what finally reveals a connection that had already weakened.

On estimate day, a technician examines the full frame, not just the section you noticed, checking joints, fastener condition and overall alignment, since frame issues often show up first in one spot but originate somewhere else in the structure. You receive a written estimate on site describing the scope and materials before any repair begins, and estimates are free after the on-site visit.

If you are unsure whether a problem is the frame or the screen, send photos before scheduling a visit. A wide shot of the affected area plus close-ups of joints, fasteners and any visibly bent sections helps us understand the likely cause before we arrive, so we come prepared with the materials the job is likely to need. We handle aluminum frame repairs throughout Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake and Volusia counties.

The problem we see most

Damaged or deteriorated frame sections can affect attached screens and the continued use of the enclosure.

How we fix it

We inspect the visible frame condition, identify the affected sections and provide a written estimate for the proposed work.
